Marie-Bernadette Charrier is currently Professor of Saxophone at the PESMD (Pôle d’Enseignement Supérieur de Musique et de Danse) Bordeaux- Aquitaine and at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux, where, in 1993, she set up a performance class for contemporary music, for all instruments. She has trained generations of performers to perform contemporary music with an open mind.

Curious and passionate about every kind of music, Marie- Bernadette Charrier leads an international career as a soloist and chamber musician with the Proxima Centauri ensemble, of which she is also Artistic Director, in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Slovenia, Estonia, Switzerland, Ireland, Australia, Canada, the United States, Japan, China, Thailand, Peru, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, and elsewhere. She is regularly invited to renowned festivals such as the Sonorities Festival, Suona Francese, Ars Musica, Síntese, and the Festival des 38e Rugissants and has participated in various radio programmes and recordings in Germany, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Canada, and Australia. She has played with the Orchestre National des Pays de Loire, the Ensemble International de Saxophones, the Ensemble Musique Nouvelle, the International Orchestral Ensemble of Italy, the Orchestre des Symphonistes, the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, the ARCEMA Ensemble, the SMASH Ensemble, Montreal’s Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, and the Ensemble Contemporain de Montréal, among others. Marie-Bernadette Charrier is regularly invited to give master classes and talks in higher music conservatories and universities in Europe, America, Australia, and Asia. She is Vice-President of the Association des Saxophonistes in France. Marie-Bernadette Charrier has had around a hundred original works for saxophone dedicated to her and has recorded more than ten albums.
